Jack's Fishing Trip 2010

Here are the better pictures from my recent Canada trip to Youngs Camp. It was a very good and enjoyable trip. The weather was cool, rainy and windy for the first 4 1/2 days. The following 2 1/2 days were sunny and warm, so much so that I actually got a tan, burned and am peeling all over. We caught fish every day regardless of the weather. We didn't catch any monster fish but many large muskies and northern pike were caught while we were there. My biggest smallie went about 18 inches and a solid 3 3/4 lbs. Mike and I both caught very nice crappie with my biggest going 15 inches and weighing 2 lbs. 4 oz. We both caught nice walleye with Mike getting a 24 incher even though we rarely ever target any efforts towards them. I also caught a beautiful 12 inch musky which I would have loved to put into a fish tank and raise. There were many, many fish whose picture did not get taken. I don't think any of these pictures are duplicates of any of the fish caught. I hope the pictures are as enjoyable to you to look at as they were to us in getting them. It goes without saying that Perry and Carole, the owners of Youngs Camp, treated us like family and were just super to spend time with. Also, seeing many of our old friends and reuniting with them is always a great part of the trip for me. Jack

Hi Perry & Carol,

Just wanted to say thanks for the great service and the fishing trip of a lifetime!

I boated 6 Muskies in 5 days. I had a pair of 2 Muskies days. Unbelievable. Of the six, four were caught in the LOTW and 2 were caught on our day trip to Lake Kish.

The largest I caught measured 40". The others were 39", 37", 33", 32" and 30"

Thanks,

Well, the ice went out of Steven's Bay on Monday, April 5th - well over two weeks ahead of time. Perry and I have been here nineteen years and this is the second earliest that is has gone out. It is really nice to see water on the lake rather than ice.

We are looking forward to a new season - our opening day is Sat., May 22nd and we are getting geared up for this. Our staff have all been hired - we have Trevor, George and Nina coming back, along with Jamie who is again guiding for us this year. The rest of the staff are all new - welcome to Katelyn, Jacalyn, Robyn and Ryan.

They are calling for rain this week which would be nice to see. The lake level is low right now, but with normal spring rainfall it should level off - it usually does.

Have a great day!

Carol
